Getting back to it

Im finally back up to riding some decent distances. I did the North leinster Riviera 200km last weekend. It feels good to have that under my belt as I’m still a little nervous that my leg will pull again. Thankfully there was no niggles or pains.

Last year was really a year of two halves. The first six months was filled with long distance rides right up until I did the Mile Failte 1200. Two week after that it all went wrong when my thigh basically blew up. That left the rest of the year with very little cycling and, boy, I missed it.

I think I remember writing a post where I am complaining about trying to find motivation for cycling and why am I doing it. Well it was through not cycling that I found the answer.

2019 plans

Anyway, I’m finally back to good miles and I have begun my RRTY attempt again so finger crossed that it will go better this year. I may also tackle a super randonneur which means I will have to do a 200, 300, 400 and a 600km cycle within the year. I’m also planning to do the Wicklow 200 which I am told is pretty hard. That should be enough for this year as I want to be sure that my legs is fully healed before I go for anything longer.

This week will be my recovery week. I have already been to the cryotherapy pool and I’m just cycling into work at a leisurely pace. There won’t be any long cycles this week as I have a stag to attend over the weekend. It’s probably a good thing as I’m sure I would be out doing at least another 100km if I was at home.
