Seatpost Clamp

Fairlight offers a selection of seatclamps with their frame. I decided to go for silver as there is already silver and orange graphics on the frame. It is a hope bolt on seatclamp which is the same make and color as my headset so they will go well together.

Seatpost

For the seatpost I went for the “Zipp Service Course”.

At 27.2mm diameter it will fit my frame, which is obviously the most important thing.

I went for the 0mm setback option because with all of my bikes I seem to always prefer my saddle to be pushed forward.

The saddle clamp is small which means the saddle can be moved further towards there limits.

And on top of all that it’s pretty light which is just an added bonus and not really a deciding factor for me.

Saddle

This is something I wanted to get right for obvious reasons. I have been using Fizik saddles for the past few years and they are great. The only downside to them is the smooth finish.

I find myself having to re-adjust from time to time as my butt slides forwards.

I have heard that “Brooks saddles are the most comfortable” for many years now so I had to give it a try.

I decided not to go for the original leather option as leather can hold moisture which wouldn’t be great for me as I live in Ireland. And in case you didn’t know, it rains a lot in Ireland.

Luckily, Brooks offers an alternative. The saddles are made from vulcanized rubber, which doesn’t absorb moisture. The top is finished with a fabric so there should be no more slippage.

This is all held together with a steel frame and rails. There is no padding so I will have to rely on the curved shape of the saddle and the flex of the rubber to give me comfort.

It’s also the right width for my sit bone measurements.
