So last month I was telling you about my great plans for completing my super randonneur. I was planned on doing my 400 and 600 km cycles by doing a permanent because I had other commitments. However, I have just found out that permanent events don’t contribute towards an SR.
I was all set to throw in the towel until next year when I spotted a 400 km cycle in September that would suit. So the new plan is to do the coast to coast 600 next month and then complete the sr by doing the Innisfree 400 in september.
That would all fit with family life and everyone will be happy.
As for the the start of May, training has been non-existent. I got the flu nearly 3 weeks ago (the real flu) and I’m just getting over it now. This is never ideal but when your training is already limited it feels even worse. But these things happen. Especially when doing long distances.
Your immune system takes a bit of a hammering on long spins so you’re open to anything for a period after it. Throw into the mix 3 kids with sore throats and runny noses and I’m sure to catch something.
That being said, I’m getting back to it now and I’m feeling fresh so maybe the rest did me good. I’m planning to do the North Leinster Rivera 200 Permanent next week to keep my RRTY attempt going. It will be my 5th in a row.
Well that’s it for now. I hope you’re all getting out and enjoying the warmer weather. Chat soon
