Finally returning from injury

I’m Back Baby!!

I’m finally returning from injury and getting some decent miles under my belt again. After my leg went into a spasm and tore itself apart I was completely off the bike for 6 weeks. it took a further 4 weeks to get to where I am now, which is back up to 60km for my long spin and 100km per week.

It has been a long time off the bike and even though my leg doesn’t hurt at all any more im still afraid to push it.  Mainly because I wasn’t even on the bike when it happened in the first place.

So how can I stop it from happening again?

I’m stretching before and after every ride now. Along with that, I’m seeing a physio once a month (at the start of each month) and visiting a cryotheropy pool every month (in the middle of each month). I am hoping to never have a repeat of what happened.

So anyway, enough looking back. Its time to look forward. I am hoping to get back to the audax ride by the end of october. There is still have a long way to go, and I don’t want to push it but I need something to aim towards. I will be starting my RRTY bit from scratch.

As i said I’m back up to 60km. 80km planned for next weekend and 100km after that. I think once I get to the 100km mark and have no pains or twinges then I will feel fully healed.

Until then I will be very nervous that it may happen again.
