So, that’s another month done and dusted. I can’t believe how fast this year is going but at least everything is going to plan with my cycling. I’ve completed my 400km Audax, the Innisfree 400, which means I have achieved my Super Randonneur.
This comes with a bit of relief as I was quietly concerned that last years injury would come back to bite me. Now that I have all the big cycling done I can relax a bit knowing that my leg is fully healed. In fact, I had nearly no pains while doing the Innisfree 400 a few weeks ago. It feels great to have completed the Super Randonneur.
Its just three more 200km audax to achieve the RRTY. I was going to do the Dying Light 200 at the end of October but its full up already. So it looks like its going to be another permanent.
As I come to the end of the year I’m starting to think ahead to next year to see what races or events might tickle my fancy. I’m going through my bucket list and trying to see what would fit around my family life.
Time is getting tighter as the kids get older. The oldest two have rugby and because they’re in different age groups so have blitz’s on different weekends. They also have football and taekwondo. On top of that my oldest, and many of her cousins, are making their first communions which will probably take up the whole month of May. I also want to bring the kids to a few mountain bike races as they love that too. I’m not complaining that they are taking my time. I love that they are so active and I know that this is just a phase of life that will be over way too quick.
I’m lucky I did the RRTY this year as I just wouldn’t have the time next year. I’ll have to choose next years events carefully and talk it over with my wife before committing to anything.
