The local Favourite – Week 22

This week I’m on late shift so not a lot done again.

It was such nice weather this week. It was a killer not to be able to get out on my bike in the mornings. Having 3 kids is like having another full-time job.

I did get to the mtb league Tuesday evening. Leaving work at 7, I arrived just as it was time for my handicap to start. A 45 minute race and then straight back to work for 8.30.

It was a tough 3 lap race with a 10 min climb at the start of each lap. A nice bit of single track through a section of wood that I normally hate, due to a rooted section. However the was so dry it was as if the roots weren’t even there.

I was leading my handicap after the first lap however, I lost all power on the second lap. I most still be recovering from the 400km.

That was it until Friday. The guy on my opposite shift kindly agreed to swap shifts so it ment I could start at 7am and finish at 10am. I managed an 80 km loop on the way home and over a few nasty hills too. Home by 1pm with a days work and a good hard cycle done.

I’m getting good at squeezing in rides.

On Sunday was the tour of louth. My local favourite. It never fails to deliver an enjoyable race. It is a 112km race bit I cycled into and out from it so I managed 130km that day.

You can read about the tour of louth here.
