The week after North to South 400 – Week 21

Healing week

This will be a short post as I didn’t do much this week for two reasons.

One, I had aggravated my chest cold by doing the 400 so it was feeling pretty crappy and spitting up some horrible stuff, up until about Wednesday.

And second, my bum was still in bits. I had worn a fairly new pair of bib shorts for the 400 and, lets just say, they were not very kind to my bum. I wasn’t able to sit on a bike.

So, enough of the excuses. What did I actually do?

On the Tuesday was the MTB league. Thank god I was racing. It was my turn to do marshalling. so it was just a gentle ( and uncomfortable) ride up the mountain to where I had to stand for my marshalling duties.

By Friday I was feeling much better and decided to cycle into work. I was feeling a lot better now and it didn’t hurt as much when I sat on the bike. I cycled a mountainous 30km loop home from work and I was feeling a lot stronger than I thought I would.

That was it for that week. I took the weekend off to spend it with the kids and give my wife a bit of a break. It’s important to show your spouse that you appreciate the time they give you to enjoy your hobby.
