Recovery week

After cycling 600km in 8 days I wanted to back off a bit this week so not to injure myself.

I was on late shift this week and my wife is back to work so my mornings are spent looking after our 10 month old.

Tuesday night Mountain bike league

I did manage to sneak out of work for 2 hours on Tuesday evening so I could do the mountain bike league. It was another very wet evening and as a result turn out was low.  So that was only another 10km in the bag but as you can expect this is an hour of maximum effort.

Making time

That was it then until Friday, when I cycled into work. I cycled a longer way home so that was another 40km squeezed in when I really didn’t have the time for it.

The big One

It was a bank holiday weekend here in Ireland so I had planned my big cycle on the Saturday morning so that I could spent the rest of the weekend with my family.

I met up with a guy from work and we cycled up to Spelga dam. It was an overcast morning in general but with we got to the dam it was as if we in a cloud. The picture below was taken as we approached the climb.

We stopped in Kilkeel from some food and then set off home again. It was one o clock by the time we made it home which was a bit later than we had expected so our wives weren’t to happy with us. Sometimes it just impossible to keep everyone happy.

That was a 150 km cycle, which makes it a 200 km week. Not bad, considering it was meant to be a recovery week.
